New iOS 17.1.1 update with major fixes for iPhone security.
Apple is urging iPhone users to download a new version of its latest operating system to fix two security issues in iOS 17.1.2.
The tech giant wants customers to immediately install the iOS 17.1.2 update, which includes no new features.
“This update provides significant security fixes and is recommended for all users,” Apple said on its website.
The update includes fixes to vulnerabilities that could have already been exploited, Apple said. The issues relate to WebKit, the engine of Apple’s web browser that enables Safari. Browsing web content could reveal sensitive information, Apple said. The company added that it is “aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in versions of iOS prior to iOS 16.7.1.”
The second update concerns a “memory corruption vulnerability”, according to Apple.
The new operating system, iOS 17, was originally released in November and introduced new features such as live voice mail and NameDrop, an easy way to share contacts.
