New information was recently announced about the additions that iOS 18, the next major iPhone update, will bring. According to Bloomberg’s trusted reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to boost its artificial intelligence (AI) features.

iOS 18 will focus on AI features, with Apple announcing the new features at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) session in June. According to Gurman, the company is testing its own large language model, codenamed ‘Ajax’, inspired by OpenAI’s GPT-4, expecting improvements in the area of autocomplete text and content summaries.

In addition, Apple is looking at integrating AI into productivity apps such as Pages and Keynote. It is also focusing on making developers’ lives easier with a new version of Xcode that uses AI to fill in and write code.

Interestingly, Apple is also testing the automatic creation of playlists in Apple Music with the help of AI, and is considering integrating it into AppleCare to provide technical support.

It is stressed, however, that it is not certain whether all of this will be ready for the release of iOS 18 later this year, as according to Gurman, the whole of Apple’s vision for generative AI is expected to be fully realized in 2025.
